Desert decomposers
Many people think the desert is a desolate baron wasteland, but actually it is quite active and crawling with all kinds of critters. There are birds and other small animals that scavange on dead meat. There are lots of bugs, beetles, scorpions, etc.. that eat corpses. There is even bacteria that breaks down stuff as well.
Problems within the desert
- Lack of water creates a survival problem for all desert organisms, animals and plants alike. But animals have an additional problem -- they are more susceptible to extremes of temperature than are plants. Animals receive heat directly by radiation from the sun, and indirectly, by conduction from the substrate (rocks and soil) and convection from the air.
